What Are Crowns and Bridges?
A dental crown (often called a 'cap') is a custom-fitted restoration that completely covers a damaged or weak tooth. It strengthens the tooth structure, restores its natural shape, and protects it from fracturing under chewing forces. Crowns are standard protection after root canal treatments.
A dental bridge is a fixed appliance used to replace one or more missing teeth. It spans the gap where teeth are missing, anchoring securely onto the healthy natural teeth or implants on either side of the empty space. These anchoring teeth are capped to support the false tooth (pontic) in between.
At our clinic, we use high-grade materials including zirconia, metal-free ceramics, and porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM) to ensure your crowns and bridges match the shade, size, and function of your natural teeth.
Why Choose Us
Our clinic combines high-quality restorative materials, careful bite preparation, and trial fits to give you a natural feeling restoration.
Dr. Varun Tomke ensures your crown or bridge aligns perfectly with your natural bite and jaw movements.
We offer premium zirconia and E-max ceramic restorations for maximum strength, durability, and natural light reflection.
Every restoration is custom-milled in top-tier dental laboratories to guarantee micrometric accuracy.
We conduct detailed trial alignments so your new tooth feels natural while talking, biting, and chewing.
The Procedure
The dentist shapes the outer surface of the tooth to create space for the cap. We select the matching tooth shade using a physical shade guide.
We take highly accurate impressions or digital scans of your prepared teeth and opposing jaws to send to the dental laboratory.
A temporary crown or bridge is placed to protect your prepared teeth and maintain your chewing ability while the final cap is being made.
Once the laboratory delivers your custom cap, we try it in, check your bite, and permanently cement it onto your tooth using medical-grade adhesive.
We adjust the height of the crown if needed, ensuring your bite feels perfectly balanced without any high spots.

How long do crowns and bridges last?
With good oral hygiene, regular cleanings, and avoiding chewing on extremely hard objects, a quality crown or bridge can last between 10 to 15+ years.
Premium cap options for your teeth
Extremely strong, virtually unbreakable crowns highly recommended for back teeth (molars) to withstand heavy chewing forces.
Metal-free porcelain crowns offering unmatched transparency and beauty, perfect for a natural look on front teeth.
A fixed, non-removable option to restore missing teeth quickly without requiring surgery, anchoring to neighboring teeth.
Benefits
Dental caps and bridges prevent neighboring teeth from shifting out of place, protecting your overall jaw alignment and digestive comfort.
Materials and cost factors
The cost of crowns and bridges varies based on the underlying material. Zirconia and E-max metal-free ceramic options are premium due to their aesthetics and durability. PFM (Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal) is a robust and cost-effective alternative.
We will discuss the benefits of each material for your specific tooth position—recommending highly aesthetic ceramics for front smile lines and high-strength zirconia for back chewing teeth.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, in almost all cases. A root canal treated tooth loses its blood supply and becomes dry, brittle, and highly prone to cracking under chewing pressure. A crown covers and reinforces the tooth, preventing it from fracturing.
A crown is a single cap designed to cover and protect a single damaged tooth. A bridge is a multi-unit restoration designed to replace one or more missing teeth by bridging the gap, anchoring onto the healthy teeth on either side.
The cost of a dental crown varies by material. Standard PFM crowns range from Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 4,500. Metal-free premium Zirconia or E-max crowns generally cost between Rs. 5,500 to Rs. 15,000+ per tooth, which includes laboratory warranties.
No. The dentist prepares the tooth under local anesthesia, so the tooth and surrounding gums are completely numb. You might feel mild pressure, but no pain. Some mild post-operative sensitivity is normal for a few days after preparation.
Zirconia is highly superior in strength, durability, and aesthetics. Unlike PFM, zirconia does not have a dark metal core, meaning it will never show a dark shadow at the gum line and is far less likely to chip or wear down opposing teeth.
You must clean your bridge daily by brushing twice a day. You should also use special super-floss or interdental brushes to clean the gap underneath the artificial hanging tooth (pontic), as food accumulation there can cause decay on the supporting teeth.
If a crown comes loose or falls off, keep it clean and contact us immediately to schedule an appointment. Do not try to glue it back yourself. If the tooth underneath is healthy, we can clean the crown and cement it back securely.
